When you are looking at night time training and before starting I would recommend checking whether your child is dry at a few points of the night to help you understand their toileting. For example, pop into their room and touch the nappy at 10/12pm to see if they are wet yet. It’s likely they are wetting in the early hours before they wake.
Three P’s
Three pee routine before bed- pee before the bath when its running, pee after the bath. No nappy on during story time and then the nappy only goes on only as they fall asleep and not before. There is a knack to getting three pees at bedtime. Get in touch if you need to know how.
Consider changing the nappy for night time to a cloth nappy as they can experience the wetness. It can be hard to get the sizing right. Egg and Solider has some options, get in touch if you need more advice on brands.
You may choose to limit liquids after 530pm, eating later may also impact toileting at night. Do we need to look at routines together?
It can be helpful to layer the bed sheets- plastic/sheet/plastic sheet to make it easier at night to change if he does wet. If you use a puppy style pad put it under the sheet rather on top as it mimics the feel of nappy for the child.
